Causes of Erectile Dysfunction
Crucially the majority of ED is associated with cardiometabolic issues such as elevated blood sugars, hypertension, and central obesity. ED can be linked with diabetes, if we identify ‘insulin-resistance’, the precursor to diabetes, we may intervene and potentially avoid the development of this disease and the subsequent life-changing repercussions.
Because of these health issues ED can be one of the first outward signs of underlying cardiovascular disease, which if not identified and treated may lead to heart disease such as angina or heart attack. Dr Chandraraj can also check for any underlying hormonal issues that are not uncommon in the middle ages. Many men have low testosterone, which may cause symptoms of low libido, fatigue, hair loss, difficulty with fat loss, poor concentration and can be associated with erectile dysfunction. If low testosterone is identified it may be effectively treated without necessarily resorting to testosterone-replacement therapies.
